Folks at pcwatch have done a review of it in Japanese. The Lenovo Ideapad U510 comes with a one key rescue system that re-stores everything to factory settings if something goes horribly wrong software-wise. The display is very glossy and features a mediocre resolution of 1366×768 pixels.
The keyboard is isolation type and keys have excellent tactile feedback. Performance of the U510 is fairly responsive, thanks to the Core i7 3517u processor, 8GB RAM and 24GB SSD cache. Windows Experience Index is 5.8 overall. Processor 7.1, memory 7.5, graphics 5.8, gaming graphics 6.4 and Primary hard disk 5.9. Of course, the SSD is inaccessible by the user. Here is how the hard drive is partitioned. You can find detailed Core i7 3517U benchmark here – http://ultra-book.co/core-i7-3517u-benchmark/
Pre-installed apps include AccuWeather for Windows 8, Evernote, Kindle, Lenovo Cloud Storage, Lenovo Companion, McAfee Security Advisor, PowerDVD, Skype, Support, SUUMO, Yahoo! Auctions, orchids, and Windows Store apps. PowerDVD is a nice addition as you cannot watch natively DVD videos on Windows 8 but with powerdvd, you can.
There is a cheaper model too (U510 49414CJ) that features cheaper Intel Core i3 3217u 1.8GHz processor. Verdict – The Lenovo IdeaPad U510 49414NJ is an amazing laptop, but is a tad too big for an ultrabook. If you do not mind its large size, we whole heartedly recommend it as this Lenovo ultrabook is powerful enough to get every job done you can imagine, as long as you are not into gaming.
